Motherhood Stories Writing and Support Group

Motherhood is one of those sacred treasures that no one thinks should be discussed or criticized, let alone analyzed. Yet it is by sharing the stories of motherhood in all its aspects, including not being a mother, that women are able to connect with, and learn from, each other.

Join local writer Christine Peets and Paula Brooks, owner of Baby Bump & Beyond to write and share your motherhood stories: the good, the bad and the ugly.

Cost is $10 per class, pay as you go or $70 for an 8-week session.  Space is limited to 10 participants so signing up for the 8-week session guarantees your spot.

Dates:  Tuesdays, April 6 to June 8 (no class June 1)
Time:  9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Location:  Baby Bump & Beyond, 16 Dundas Street East, Napanee

Breaking in as a Freelance Writer

Breaking in to the freelance world of magazines and newspapers, either in print or online, needn't be daunting.  With social media, blogs, literary journals and new publications coming on board, the possibilities are endless. Our focus will be on non-fiction for both novice and experienced writers. We will discuss everything from writing short news stories to longer personal essays. Each stage of the writing process from preparation to submission will be covered.  In addition, there will be time for writing and readings.

Everyone is welcome to bring previous work to class for critique.  Students will be given an assignment to complete between sessions, which will then be discussed. There will be opportunities to discuss work online between sessions.
