Dolche Word Activity Sheets

This is a sample sheet. Contained in this file are 43 sheets meant to organize your class into a Challenge activity. This is a sample sheet so you will only to be able to link to a few of the pages. The highlighted blue links below will work. ( If you are an experienced computer user, you may download all the files in a zip format but you will need to go back to the teacherstore and pay the entrance fee.)
I am using the theme of animal eyes to engage the students interest in developing sharp reading eyes. The teacher may challenge the class asking things like, "Who has eyes as sharp as an eagle?" . The first award certificate is called "Eagle Eyes". It then progresses to "Wolf Eyes, Cheetah Eyes, Lion Eyes and finally T-rex Eyes". Each student will be given a book of Dolche words organized in groups of 20-40 words depending on their reading level. Each night they take their book home and parents dictate the words giving them a score. When they have mastered three perfect scores they can move to the next level and the teacher awards a certificate. You may play award music at this time as the class salutes a winner. The song congrat.mid  is included in the files.  The high readers can compete with the low readers as their list is much tougher for the same award. A class chart can be used to put stickers beside student's names that master a level. Large display stickers are included with display1.htm, display2.htm, display3.htm  for a class chart.  Remember  your class will need to be divided into three groups so that the high readers can compete with the low readers. The levels are adjusted so students can compete evenly.
